Humber Business Week 2027 aiming to celebrate milestones and strengthen impact

The Humber Business Week team is preparing to celebrate the past and build for the future as it shapes the schedule for its next action-packed week in June 2027.

Pat Coyle, marketing & BD consultant at Wilkin Chapman Rollits and Chair of Humber Business Week, said 2027 features an array of anniversaries which are hugely significant to the regional business community.

And the MKM Stadium, one of the main venues for Humber Business Week, has already benefited from a major upgrade to mark Hull City’s return to the Premier League.

Pat said: “We’ve got stakeholders who will be celebrating milestones ranging from 10 to 200 years, we’ve got fantastic venues from offices, colleges and country houses to theatres and a Premier League stadium, and we’ve got an abundance of energy, ideas and innovation.

“We’ve built the quantity and sharpened the quality of the week. Now we’re calling on more to join our community, and celebrate all that’s good in our region.”

The first of two curtain-raiser events for Biz Week 2027 will take place in January;  on Tuesday January 26 on the south bank with the north bank event planned  for Thursday January 28 at the MKM Stadium. Programme launch events are being planned in April for the north and south banks.

Pat said: “Biz Week is increasingly bringing the Humber together, and the steering group’s work has helped make that happen.

In 2027, Humber Business Week will kick off on Monday June 7 with Destination Monday, and the first event will be the in-demand breakfast event hosted by Future Humber at the MKM Stadium. The annual Humber Business Week Lunch is booked for that afternoon, with Pat exploring options for an exciting guest speaker. Other Biz Week regulars are working on ideas for their events as Humber Business Week again takes over the venue on the opening day.

Anniversaries play a key part on Tuesday June 8 with the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce moving its annual Expo to the MKM Stadium, where it will partner with the Tiger’s Trust on some activities.

Expo will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hull’s year as UK City of Culture and the Chamber’s own achievement in clocking up 190 years since it was formed in 1837. Another milestone likely to feature in the programme is the centenary of the University of Hull, which will again host the Humber Business Week dinner.

Pat said: “It’s 25 years since The Deep opened and 20 years since the launch of Freedom Festival. Biz Week itself is in its 23rd year and we’re conscious there will be many people taking part who weren’t in the world of work when Biz Week started – and many who weren’t even born.

“It makes us think not only about our history and heritage, but also about the future. Humber Business Week already has a significant impact on our business networks and wider community, so the challenge now is to consider how we can inspire and support the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

“We’ve made changes to the steering group with some members stepping back because of new roles, relocation or retirement, and new people joining with fresh ideas, wider networks and additional sector insight.

“Added to the combined benefits of new digital tools, youth involvement and year-round promotion, we’ve created a platform for the whole Humber business community. It’s also an open invitation to look at what we’re doing and help us make it better.”
