Humber Business Week is to step up preparations for 2026 with two “Get Ready” events to help participants and stakeholders get the most from a programme which is filling up fast.
The Biz Week steering group has confirmed that the north bank event will be held at the MKM Stadium in Hull on Thursday 22 January from 9am until 11am. The south bank event will take place at the Holiday Inn, Grimsby, from 10am until 1pm on Thursday 5 February.
Pat Coyle, Chair of Humber Business Week, said: “We are making great progress with our plans to deliver another fantastic Biz Week during 2026 with many new and repeat events already confirmed.
“The programme is taking shape nicely with more ideas coming in all the time – particularly on the south bank – and I’m confident we will have a remarkable line up of events again in 2026.
“The ‘Get Ready’ sessions were introduced for 2025 and proved invaluable in helping Biz Week participants to prepare for hosting their own sessions and maximise the benefits of their involvement. So we’re doing them again!”
Bridlington Spa has confirmed Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson as the first headline speaker for Biz Week. The Baroness, who is one of Britain’s greatest Paralympic athletes, will take centre stage as keynote speaker at The Business Day on Friday 5 June 2026.
Stephen Parnaby OBE, Event Director of The Business Day, said she brings a wealth of experience from her extraordinary sporting career and her influential role in public life and she is renowned for her resilience, leadership, and advocacy for inclusivity.
He added: “Tanni comes highly recommended as a speaker who truly engages audiences. Her story is powerful and thought-provoking, offering lessons that resonate far beyond sport. Delegates will gain insights into the winning mentality, resilience, teamwork, and inclusivity that have defined her journey. We are thrilled to welcome her to Bridlington Spa for what promises to be an inspiring keynote.”
Mark Lonsdale, Producer of The Business Day, added, “As we celebrate a decade of The Business Day, it’s important that our speaker lineup reflects the values shaping modern business. Tanni’s openness, determination, and commitment to equality make her an ideal choice. Her perspective on overcoming challenges and fostering inclusive environments will leave a lasting impact on our delegates.”
The Humber Business Week steering group has also confirmed other pillar events. Biz Week will begin on Monday 1 June with a full day of activities at the MKM Stadium in Hull, and on the Tuesday the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Expo at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel.
Hull Truck Theatre is in discussion with potential event hosts as it works to repeat the full day of activities which was a big success on the Wednesday in 2025, and Hull City Council will present a business breakfast on the Thursday.
Pat said: “With so many big events already booked in we’re on course for our biggest and best Humber Business Week yet and there is much more to come. We’re hearing fresh ideas from established businesses and first-time contributors and we’ll do everything we can to support them – that’s what the Get Ready events are all about.”
